A friend of mine in synchronicity and in MS...sent me a song just the other day. There is something darkly humorous about it. It comes for us all. Sooner or later...your "shit is fucked up." Time is the great equalizer for us all as we age into...being broken.
Thanks teapot man...this one's for you.
(Warren Zevon)
Well, I went to the doctor
I said, "I'm feeling kind of rough"
He said, "I'll break it to you, son [Warren sings, "Let me break it to you, son"]
Your shit's fucked up."
I said, "my shit's fucked up?"
Well, I don't see how-"
He said, "The shit that used to work-
It won't work now."
I had a dream
Ah, shucks, oh, well
Now it's all fucked up
It's shot to hell
Yeah, yeah, my shit's fucked up
It has to happen to the best of us
The rich folks suffer like the rest of us
It'll happen to you
That amazing grace
Sort of passed you by
You wake up every day
And you start to cry
Yeah, you want to die
But you just can't quit
Let me break it on down:
It's the fucked up shit

It isn't as if dead men tell no tales, they just tell them very quietly...

Always loved Warren. His last CD with friends collaborating has a cover of Knocking on Heaven's Door that's really good. Like he said in his last interview w/ Letterman, "enjoy every sandwich."
Now.. that's different and entertaining. Thanks for sharing this. By the way, thanks for the caption because I would probably missed alot and not understanding what he is singing about.
Hugs, Jim
That is kinda funny and I always felt this way about me but not in so many words as this song.
I just don't feel the same anymore since having bipolar - I truly do feel like my shit's fucked up!
I like it!
I have tagged you with something if you wish to participate.
i only discovered zevon last year
this is great
tell it like it is
and under the surface he's saying a great deal
thank you
Amazing grace..."Say goodnight, Gracie." "Goodnight, Gracie."
It just keeps seeming though that if your shit's fucked up enough, long enough, enough different ways, that eventually something's going to turn a corner. It's still hard to get it that you can't earn relief.
Glad someone tried to make a video for it, but someone else should do it better. :) As you mentioned, there is a dark humor to the song, and the video maker didn't convey Warren's wry smile ... anyway, Warren Zevon kicks ass, thanks for spreading his gospel. ;)
hiyah teapot man...is that you sweetie? yeah..it was the only video i could find...doesn't do the song justice but it is good to hear his voice.
