Toes, marvelous toes...

We are beginning our new theme here on Multiple Synchronicities and Sclerosis with an up close and personal view of the human body. As per your request we are starting with the TOES and working our way upward.

And before you ask...yes these are my toes. They have never truly been captured adequately in photos or video. So they are making their debut here today on my blog. I am not really one to pamper my feet or toes...never had a professional pedicure or foot massage. My toes are usually bare of any fancy acoutrements. I have never worn toe rings for example.

Toes, toes....these poor forgotten appendages. We seldom think of our toes until they bring us pain as when we stub them in the middle of the night on our trips to the bathroom. That is a pain which causes me to feel nausea. It is like no other.

What can one say about toes? Plenty I say. There are whole poems and songs dedicated to our toesies as well as the devotion of those who have a toe fetish. There is a plethora of toes to be found in art and literature. And of course...aside from any romantic idealization of toes...they sometimes can be the first recipient of Multiple Sclerosis symptoms which we will discuss in future posts.

If you have anything to add to this fine and worthy discussion of toes such as toes found in art, literature, music, essays, and even your own imagery of your personal toes...let me know and we can add it here.

Raise your glass everyone! Here is a toast to TOES!

Hi. Many thanks for visiting my blog today.

Toes, interesting subject. I'm tall and well-built (I think that mean overweight) so for the last few years I've indulged in the extravagance of a chiropodist (saves a lot of stretching). Each session consists of 30 minutes of laughter and some snipping and scraping. I recommend it highly.

I stubbed my big toe on coral once. It hurt sooooo bad! I was actually crying while still in the water figuring how I was going to hobble to shore, then another wave came and shoved me right back into that same piece of coral. Ouch!!!!!!!!
I don't think I'd post a pic of my feet just now as my big toenail on the other foot is just starting to grow back in after another unfortunate mishap.

By the way, when I was in my teens and was on a swim team, just before my events at a swim meet, I hit my little toe against the pool's ladder handle. It hurt so bad that I didn't get placed I wanted to be placed. I came in second (close one) but I could have won if my little toe didn't hurt. Hurt like hell when I was kicking my feet against the water while swimming.

I stubbed my toe when I was a kid once and it got infected. Nasty! I also paint my toenails every summer.

Here's to toes! This post reminded me of the song "Toes Across the Floor" by Blind Melonn. ;)

At the moment, with both my big toes in bandages and me signed off work, I feel I could do without them. Doubt it would do much for my football skills if I did get them chopped off though....

If Moses supposes, his toeses are roses. Then Moses supposes erroneously.
That's my contribution to toe songs.
Thanks for stopping by my blog.

toes in art, music, etc...
i am fond of jack johnson i think he has a song called 'bubbly toes,' though i could be wrong about that, maybe it's just a line in a song i am remembering.

Both of my big toe's nails are yellow and have grown upward, not out for 2 years, went to Toe Specialist (read $250)"Never seen anything like it." When I told him my feet had been swollen(which my stellar neuro said was, "Just what happens when you can't walk," the Toe Dr.$250, says, "Oh, that is what happened it grew then and now your feet are no longer swollen. It will go away." 2yrs later--just the same, have soaked them, scraped them, potioned them, massaged them. Grrrr.

there's nothing like floating on your back in a salt water pool, under the moonlit sky, while you are being pulled gently along by your toes ..

Most of us don't even think about our toes until something happens to them.

My youngest son was two and I was taking a package of hot dogs out of the freezer to defrost for lunch.

Yep, you guessed it....the package fell through the bar on the freezer door, down to the floor and onto my toes. Broke two toes, was taped together for three weeks.

Now all these years later, my poor toes have gone through the war with other injuries, so if you don't mind, it still is a sore subject.

On to another body part!

When my boys were younger, I loved to play " this little piggy" with their toes. I loved the deep down belly laugh and giggles I could get out of them.

You know, even the most lovely feet would look awfully incomplete without a nice set of toes artfully arranged at the ends. I think they're the finishing touch on a rather nice overall design, myself!
