Okay I know some of you have been subjected to this already but has some doctor Geoffrey Rutledge contacted any of you about your blog and wanting to have it on this site called wellsphere? He sent this generic form stating that my writing was "fantastic" and then invited me to be a part of wellsphere. I was immediately suspicious because the particular blog post which was cited as being so darn fantastic had nothing at all to do with Multiple Sclerosis.
I wrote back and asked pointed questions and said...before I would ever agree to such a thing I would need to know more about wellsphere. What I researched about it on-line was NOT GOOD! Many ex-employees are very disgruntled and upset over this site. I don't know if it is some money making scheme or not. But what has happened next is not ethical in my book.
Without ever agreeing to this, I get yet another form letter where I am now a member of wellsphere and they will be taking my blog posts to put on this site! I NEVER AGREED! Asking for more information is very different than saying yes to them.
I would like to know if any of you have gotten caught up in their web. I don't wish to participate. I don't want some other site publishing my work without my permission or sending it all over the internet. This is not right and I want it to stop. How do I do this????
Help!

never heard of this mofo... if he's on blogger, contact google admin, and do so even if he's not, stating your work is being stolen/used without permission!
whatever you type is automatically copyrighted, whether you actually say so or not
also contact the copyright office
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Yes, I received the same form letter but I did get answers to my questions so I agreed to let them link to my blog. Now I'm not sure it was a good decision...
I guarantee that he did not read your writing. He got a list and just went down the line and sent the form letters.
MM, you know that I too received the same form letter/invitation. However, I simply did not respond. One week later I received a 'follow-up' note basically asking again.
It seems that many of us (maybe all of us) received the same 'invitation'. There is somebody (and I don't know who) that has been spending considerable time methodically going down the list of MS bloggers on the Carnival Page. This person is in Lincoln, Nebraska. I don't know if these are related.
Also, a communications director from a small pharma company has been in email touch with me. In the last note I received, he mentioned that he would be approaching more MS bloggers from my list on the Carnival. Maybe Lincoln Nebraska is related to his outreach efforts.
It kinda bugs me either way. But I would definitely ask for immediate removal of your blogfeed on the Wellsphere site if they automatically put it on without you having to create an account and do it yourself.
Take a deep breath. This can be rectified.
Meme,
I would do what laughingwolf suggested. I will ask around and if I get some useful information to help you I will email you.
i emailed the sender of the letter..who knows if it is actually the doctor himself and said i most certainly did not agree to this. the log-in they gave me worked so...they just went on ahead and did it. i don't know anything about this wellsphere and i don't want to be a member unless i know what they are about. you can't just force people off the blogger street to join like that and then take their blog feed!
I too got this email and a follow up. I ignored it and put it on spam control so I don't get any more in my inbox.
I did go to that website and look around, but I signed out of Blogger and signed in with a new screen name because of tracking cookies, etc. I do that alot so I don't get flooded with emails I don't want.
This site does not appear to be directed to any one topic, especially not MS. I do not know what the objective is but I do know that my objective is to not be on wellsphere!
I hope you succeed in getting your writings off their site.
Anne
Stay on them like a pit bull. I know you will!
good news...they wrote back and sort of apologized but the outcome is that they will not put my writing on there without my permission. i guess i better check later at some point to see if this is true.
hmmmmmmm, things like that do make you uneasy ..
I've never heard of wellsphere...definitely suspicious...
Yes, this happened to me too but about Narcolepsy in Children. When I inquired with questions, I got a form letter back congratulating me for joining. Of course, I sent a strong letter back stating I have not accepted thier offer.
