Stuff Santa Never Brought Ya...

You were probably good...maybe a little naughty...but why didn't Santa bring you everything on your list? There was always something Santa seemed to forget.

I can name three things that I wanted but never got from Santa from when I was a kid.

1. A Big Wheel! My best friend had a large family and so she had several of these hanging out in her backyard. Lived on a hill and it was so much fun to go careening down the hill and come to think of it...possibly into traffic! Perhaps this is why I never got one. Did you have one of these as a kid?

2. A Snoopy Snow Cone Machine! Okay the need for this is so obvious...who would not want snow cones every day of the year? I mean seriously. They still make these and I found one at Wall Mart a year or two ago and I bought it for myself for Christmas. Okay so...um...it was a little hard to keep grinding down the ice but it was fun! Who wants a cherry snow cone?

3. And I also always wanted a tape recorder. This was in the days before karaoke and I wanted to sing into it. I finally bought one for myself when I was 13 by doing a paper route to make money. I used it to death!

So what did you ask from Santa that you never got? Do tell all!

And now for some serious stuff!

Do you know anything about electroconvulsive therapy? Well I didn't know much about this controversial treatment for mental disorders including depression either. So I asked fellow blogger and psychiatrist Doctor Shock to help explain this type of therapy. It is simply a fascinating interview and not to be missed. Please do stop by to read and/or comment. You may find my interview with Doctor Shock right here.

Remember Monty Python and the ministry of silly walks? Well I have developed my own repetoire of silly walks due to the fact that I have Multiple Sclerosis. Not to belittle this disease in any way...all serious business but...I do laugh at myself in how my symptoms manifest. I created a video so that others could see the symptom called "foot drop" up close and personal. Please do stop by and see my video making and sometimes comedic efforts. Please forgive me ahead of time for my lame joke.

You may find my video about foot drop right here.

Have a great evening, afternoon, day, week...etc and so forth!

Yours truly,

The One and Only Merely Me (Don't be fooled by copy cats or cheap imitators)

I'd like to see them try and duplicate you. There only be one. :)

No Big Wheel, no Snow Cone machine, let alone a Snoopy one, the Cadillac of Snow Cone makers. There was something extremely hard about being good. I got started around Dec. 20th every year. Obviously, that wasn't enough.
Sigh..., I got a tape recorder and that, only taught me what I sounded like.

I never had a big wheel therefore my daughters did! we even had that snoopy snow cone maker. I always wanted a new doll, and that's it!

Great writing over at health central, it has taken me a while to check it out.

I think you did a great public service for people with MS or who know ppl with MS, showing the foot drop video.

You're the best!

I LOVE your post they are so nostalgic to me. I wanted Scott Baio in my living room with a big red bow, now is that too much to ask for?

I never saw either a Big Wheel or a Snoopy Snow Cone machine here in the UK. Showing my age now, my first 'tape recorder' was a reel to reel model!!

Love the photo but I bet Santa isn't allowed to have little girls sitting on his knee any more in these PC days. Never mind, you can sit on my knee whenever you like x

Stuff I never got... hmm actually whatever it was doesn't matter now does it.

I put a small tribute to an MS sufferer on my blog... an old famous English sportsman who has battled it for some years now.

I showed my wife your post and we had a good laugh because every other Christmas I always bemoan the fact I never got a Big Wheel! I have the money now but I'm a little big:)

Ah, my Big Wheel!!! One of my most favorite childhood memories! I loved that thing and rode it until the big plastic tires were worn through to holes.

I always wanted an Easy Bake Over. Maybe not getting that is why I'm basically turned off to cooking now.

I always got my best presents after I started buying them for myself.

I go with the big wheel, but the one I wanted was a Barbie big wheel, all pink! And with what Immi said, an Easy Bake Oven.

Oh and a puppy. I always wanted a yellow or white lab. puppy. I never got any animals other than fish until I moved out in my first apartment!

And one other silly thing. Growing up Jewish- I wanted a tree. Bur of course!

I'm totally with you on the big wheel. And I never got one either. But my kids got the new fangled one :)

Hello! You can still get a Snoopy Snow Cone Machine at www.vermontcountrystore.com.

Santa would not buy me a CB radio. Something about not breaker one nining with truckers at age 11 I think.

I was just commenting over at the Deb Ball about the time I ran into Annette Funicello at DisneyWorld as she was entering a bathroom. She had a lucite cane with sparkles in it. She made my day - just seeing the original Mouskateer felt so "Disney!"

Came over from Stephens amazing blog. I'm the "autism" lady....

Merry Christmas, I wish you well.

Hey Kim...small world indeed. I suppose I am the MS and Autism lady. You and I wrote a book together! Stephen is amazing. I will come and pay you a visit shortly.

Well that makes me sound like the Alzheimer's lady! ("They wrote a book together and that Stagliano lady didn't mention it or remember it?") It was an anthology. And my first anything in a book - kind of cool!

I had a Krazy Kar as a 4 year old. AWESOME machine! Round with two huge wheels that you spun so you went into circles. I adored it! I bought one for my Mia was she was 4, but her gross motor limitations made it difficult to use. That was kind of heartbreaking.

And the Easy Bake Oven is now a pink microwave - HORRIBLE! It should only be a turquoise stove dammit!

:)

My brother had the Big Wheel. I never did. It was his favorite.

I enjoyed riding my cousin's Sit and Spin. Around and around in circles.

I wanted a tea set and didn't get one. Well, that is until I was older and my mother gave me HER tea set she had grown up with. I still have it.

I wanted to be Clara in the Nutcracker.

There is only one Merely Me, and that is lovely you.

And, I never got the 3-speed bike I wanted as a kid.

Or a date with Debra Harry. I was a bit older than a kid when I wanted that.

I can't believe you never had a Big Wheel!

There is an award for you at my place.

I basically buy presents for myself because I can never quite get what I want for Christmas.

I had a Big Wheel once.

Once.

But it was fun while I had it.

I had a Big Wheel! The freedom was awesome...just like the commercial says.

But I never got a hobby horse. You know what that is? The horse head on a stick. I wanted one of those when I was little but never got one. And then my little sis did!

She never had a Big Wheel though.
