Question for the day

The question for the day is....

Where do you go to find peace and quiet?

Sometimes I actually hide in my bathroom to find some solitude.

I head for my "Hill Farm!" The road it is on is a short cut from nowhere to nowhere else. Last Sunday it rained all day and we counted 5 cars and one Amish buggy on the road all day!

No matter where I go, and I prefer outside on the back deck, I can't get away from the noise in my head. ARRGGHH!!!

In the bedroom on my bed. It's my office when my husband isn't in it.

When my husband's in bed, it's my leather chair with my feet up.

It's wherever I can find solace where no one will bother me.

First place is an AA meeting. I always have calmed down by half way through and if I really work to listen and learn normally am as close to normal it's possible for me to ever get by the time I leave.

Second - busy coffee shops. I sometimes like being alone in busy places. It makes me slow down somehow.

Today after my methylpredisone infusion I went to the beach. A nice swim in the Atlantic Ocean and a little nap on the sand was very peacful for a little while.

Sounds contradictory, but out for a fast walk.

The rhythmic steps, blood circulating, and the outside air, combine to make me feel a whole lot better.

I have found yoga meditation to take me to a quiet place - one I could replicate for a long time afterwards, just by letting myself go there.

Also on the dance floor. The music, the movement, and holding another person, takes me to a whole different place.

My allotment - just spending quiet time tending the vegetables, weeding, and listening to the birds.
I some times HATE it when I get there and some of the other plot tenants are there are insist on holding inane conversation

I just found you by reading Lisa Emerich's blog. She's right you are an introvert. That rocks! People who meet me tend to think I'm an extrovert but I too would rather hide away and be alone. I most like to conversate with myself. I know, sound nuts...

My latest avenue to P&C is on a jog through wooded area. Most of the time its middle of the night, in bed listening to George Noory's Coast to Coast a.m.

About the only place I can get "peace and quiet" is in my car. I have a one-hour-each-way commute to work and most of it is via two-lane country roads.

I pray, listen to music or just drive.

It is my cone of silence.

I love the car. No music. Quiet.

And when I can get the house to myslef, a nap with the cat is always a peaceful restorative experience.

I'm a bathroom girl myself, too! Best thinking I have ever done has been on the "throne"...LOL
