My love of cheese

I do...I love me some cheese.

I love swiss, cheddar, and string mozzarella. But...just recently I have found THE cheese of cheeses. It is called Robusto Gouda and it is to die for...it has this nutty flavor which is intense...just a little bit of this stuff packs such a flavor...you will begin to crave it. Found it in a health food store in the cheese aisle where they had samples. Just one taste of this stuff and I was in love.

Cheese can be like that.

But some cheese is not cheese at all! I dare say there is cheese fraud going on out there! And I am here to warn you of it. I had never ordered a Pizza Hut stuffed crust pizza before. And so I finally caved in to seeing those commercials of hot melty cheese in the crust and...my family ordered one.

All I can say is "YUCK!" and...what is that stuff? It didn't taste like any cheese I have ever had. Instead of chewy...as mozarella cheese should be...it was the consistency of...glue.
I was very disappointed.

Have any cheese stories? I want to hear them but of course I do!

The Gouda cheese sounds wonderful. You have me thinking cheese now. I agree about the pizza thing.

My late friend, Lee bridges, (http://www.mjguide.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=26) tried Stilton for the first time at my wedding- a very cool dapper gentleman in his seventies- a real sophisticated product of the Be-Bop jazz scene- walking round "Erm hum Stil-ton" in his Georgia drawl. Stilton is a great life enhancing experience!

I too, am a cheese lover, along with a good glass of wine, even crackers!
Good company adds the finishing touches.

The word imitation is not a good one to be attached to cheese. But I think it exists in many places, not always labeled. I ate my share as a kid.

My compliments on the summer picture above. Both the tree and the person holding it up are quite stunning. As is your writing, especially about your son. I liked the sense, humor and factual handling of a sensitive subject in your MS article. If I can use this term, "good job." :>)

I could give up just about any food but during the month I gave up dairy I was the most depressed I have ever been. For me, the world is darker without cheese. Thank goodness it seems I am not allergic to it.

Other than Helluva Good, and possibly a couple of other brands, I normally bypass the "dairy case" when I am shopping for cheese.

Even Walmart has a great imported gourmet cheese section, and other markets have even more expansive sections.

"Processed cheese product" is a nasty term and one to avoid if you are a cheese lover unless you are into Velveeta and Kraft Dinner.

When Kathy makes even basic mac and cheese, we use imported natural cheeses, and we experiment and vary the type used.

If you want a tasty mac and cheese or any other cheese dish, you need to spend 7 or 8 bucks for a moderately sized, quality, brick of cheese to use in your recipe. I will have to try and find some Robusto Gouda here locally and give it a try.
