The new kitty and other news...

Merely Me here to bring you the latest minute to minute updates of my oh so exciting life!

* I now am more brunettey than blond. I asked the hair dresser to make me darker. I have no idea why. You ever get the idea that you just need a change? And what is the first thing we gals go for? Our hair. I am a blond in my heart and soul so I am already planning of when to change back.

* I am now on day four of taking 60 mg of the Prednisone for my MS flare up. The MS is like this little wicked demon living inside of me. Despite this kick ass drug, my MS still emerges at inopportune times, like in the middle of my sleep. I have surges in my head causing me to shudder like before but now they only last 5 minutes instead of 20 and the surge does not travel to my limbs. Those surges had been pretty powerful. Afterward, I would look at my forehead and this one vein would just pop right out. Just one of the many bizarre things about MS. Gotta love this disease.

* Can anyone say....hypomania? Yep, that's me! This Prednisone has finally given me the huge energy boost. Yesterday I cleaned my entire house, I was exercising, and I was about to make a seven layer cake and alphabetize all the books in the house when reason stepped in and I took a break.

* Little Mew Mew the Kung Foo Kitty has been seen by the vet and is doing pretty good. She came from the animal shelter complete with an upper respiratory infection. Nice. So much snot coming from this itty bitty creature. And to boot, she doesn't get the litter box thing, so upon a suggestion from my sister, we are crate training her. We have her litter box and bed in a big 'ol crate carrier and there she goes especially at night, so she can learn where to go potty. I think this is working. I have only ever gotten full grown animals before. This is my first kitten. When she is feeling good she practices her kung foo moves on whatever moving creature is available, even her own tail. And now I have photos of her!

* Feel free to think of a LOLcat type caption for my kitty pics. You do know what a LOLcat is don't ya? Do I have to explain everything? sheesh!

nice kitty! Our cat "Dot" has been missing for ten days and my wife is heart broken.

You really sound like you're on 'roids! All the domestic activities. The haircolor thing is relatable: I'm debating whether to go a bit darker because my ends have gotten brassy from the sun.

I'm sorry about your cat. I have a panic attack every time my cat gets loose. I hope Dot is found because you both must be worried sick.

Beautiful kitten.

I so want one, but my apartment complex only allows one cat per one bedroom apartment.

Sigh.

Thanks for posting his pictures.

As for the hypomania, be gentle with ourself. It''s a wonderful feeling, but the crash that might come later ( and I hope it won't) is a nasty fall.

Good to hear the episodes are lessening, that is scary. So many actions taken by the body, without permission.
Good for you, new hair, have some fun. :) Maybe the Prednisone made you do it!

Awww...such a cute little, it is a kitty? It looks just like a penguin under there. Sorta.
Yes, Job #1 - learn where the litter is and use it. Always.

You wait, when she gets better, she'll be pouncing on you!

Ah Mew Mew. She's adorable!! And yes, blends in with the Penguin loverly.

Glad to hear you are feeling better and that you are "juiced up" on the Prednisone. Pred affects me in a very different way, almost the opposite. But it certainly does make some of those symptoms shrink and bow out.

Maybe little Mew Mew is overwhelmed and confused with the respiratory infection and the new house and many bigger animals, etc.

With my little duo, I limited what parts of the house they ventured into at first, closing many doors. Then as they got acclimated, I began to open more doors and let them claim more space.

I think that the crate is a good idea during her transition time. Hopefully she'll use the litter box regularly. Keeping fingers crossed.

That is one cute kitten. One of our cats was pulling off some pretty amazing acrobatics with his own tail late last night, pausing between each attack to try and figure out why we were laughing at him.

Pretty, pretty putty. I'm jealous. My husband is a little afraid to let me even look at kittens because I want them all.

I can realte to the Prednisone energy. It made me think I could take on the world. I am glad you are only taking 60 miligrams. Maybe you can even sleep a bit. I started on 500 mg and took almost a month to taper. I lost so much sleep after a while that I started to hallucinate (I'm not kidding)but I loved the burst of strength and energy. I'm dragggin' now.

Sometimes Prednisone gives me the feeling that I can do Just about ANYTHING and then other times, it makes me feel like I can't do ANYTHING. The ying and yang of prednisone. Take advantage of all that energy - cuz it will be gone before ya know it.

Such a cute cute kitty = Mew Mew is a cute name too.

Caption: I might look shy, but wait till you hear me roar!

Penguins?? Are these people nuts. I'm gonna be a cat when I grow up!!!

I'm a baby. I'll get the hang of the big cat tricks sooner or later - so just leave the litter box and I'll figure it out. You've never seen a full grown cat in diapers, have you? (OK, the analogy is similar to the one I used on my son - you can't go to school in diapers - same idea for kitty!)

Have fun when he's small, those kitty moments are precious.

aww... pwetty kitty ;)

btw - have you tried mega doses of vitamin d?

initial studies show it helps some ms sufferers, among others

i take one 1000 mg pill a day, sometimes two, and it seems to be helping my bones heal

apparently it has many benefits in the 1k + doses, including for autistic folks....

Your kitten is adorable! Get your camera ready ... there is nothing as cute as a Tuxedo kitty when they sit up on their back haunches to play or beg. They look like penguin impersonators!
